Buxton & Leek College is part of the University of Derby group. It was formed in August 2012, following the merger of Leek College and the University of Derby’s Buxton College and provides a comprehensive, high-quality further education and training service to students of all ages and abilities from Leek, Buxton and the surrounding areas. The College offers over 220 courses including A Levels, Apprenticeships, BTECs, NVQs, Work based Learning, Higher Education, Learning for Leisure and more. The College boasts industry standard facilities including a Fine Dining Restaurant and Kitchens, Hair & Beauty Salons, Leek School of Art and the Specialist Training Centre, for Motor Vehicle and Logistics, and Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Workshop which give students real-world experience to prepare them for their careers.
The University of Derby achieved University status in 1992 and is home to a diverse community of more than 20,000 students from the UK and overseas. It is a Top 50 University in The Guardian University Guide 2017. Professor Kathryn Mitchell has been Vice-Chancellor since 2015.
