Buxton & Leek College is part of the University of Derby, our Foundation Programme: Joint Honours course is run through Buxton & Leek College. This is only available to study at the University of Derby.

During this course you'll explore a range of subjects and get back into the swing of studying again.
As well as improving your language and numeracy skills you'll develop your confidence in writing essays and reports, undertaking research, analysing numbers, doing presentations, managing your time and working as part of a team.
Throughout this course you'll be able to use the library, which has a large collection of books and journals, as well as different areas for group work and individual study. There is also plenty of It equipment for use
During this course:
- You'll be able to work on your Maths and English skills.
- You'll have the chance to develop your study skills to prepare you for undergraduate study.
- You can choose up to five subjects to study to prepare for your degree.
You'll take these subjects:
- Study skills
You'll then choose a total of three further subjects from:
- Biology (double module - counts as two)
- Environmental Studies
- Physics* (double module - counts as two)
* In order to study Physics or Maths at level 3 you MUST already hold GCSE Maths at C or above.
If you want to start studying again after some time away, this course may be ideal for you.
- You'll be able to move on to an undergraduate degree course at the University.
- Our tutors are supportive and encouraging, and will help you achieve your career aspirations.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, you will need to demonstrate a commitment and ability to study at this level, and take a literacy test before we can offer you a place.
