Hair students aiming to colour their way to London

Charlotte Trivett from the College’s Buxton Campus and Natalie McGlinchey and Freya Andrew from Leek Campus will travel down to Walsall College on April 19 to compete in the regional heat of Wella’s Xposure competition.  The talented trio won their places in the contest after planning a commercial cut and colour using Wella products, creating the look on a live model and working with professional photographer Matt Howcroft to produce their winning images.

Designed to celebrate up and coming talent in colleges and other training providers, Xposure will now challenge the three young hairdressers to re-create their winning looks live at the regional heat in Walsall with the best 32 students nationally set to battle it out in the grand finals of the contest at the Wella World Studio in London where bronze, silver and gold titles will be awarded.

Hairdressing lecturer at Buxton & Leek College Ruth Nuttall explained: “All three of these trainees produced some excellent work. The competition began with an inter-college photographic competition. We sent ten sets of photos to Wella for judging and are delighted that three of our learners have made it through to the regional heat of the contest.

“This is their first step into the world of competitive hairdressing and we are thrilled to see them make their mark. Winners will receive a host of money can’t buy hairdressing prizes including exclusive education and, for the gold winner, the chance to shadow a leading hairdresser for the day.”
