Massages and manicures aid Macmillan

HAIR and Beauty students at Buxton & Leek College raised over £340 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in this September’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Inspired by Salon Operations Manager Amanda Garrington, whose own husband, Joe has experienced the charity’s support after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, students at both campuses baked and provided therapy sessions to aid Macmillan at the special event.

Amanda said: “All of the students who took part were absolutely amazing and fully engaged!!! They baked their socks off and are a credit to the college. Client feedback was extremely positive and that all stylists and therapists were very professional and attentive. A good time was had by all.”

Both Buxton and Leek Hair and Beauty Salons were open on Thursday September 28 not just for coffee and cakes but also for pampering treatments including manicures, pedicures, mini facials, hand and arm massages and even a wash and blow dry. All treatments were topped off with complimentary coffee and cakes with visitors asked to make a donation to the charity rather than paying for their therapy.
