As an Inclusion Support Assistant within our Individual Needs Team, you will have the chance to develop your skills in scaffolding learning and supporting the holistic needs of students. This role offers a unique opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Hours
• You are contacted for 32.5 hours a week for 39.2 working weeks, which are term time only.
• You will begin your day at 08:45 and finish at 15:40
• It is a fixed-term contract until the end of the apprenticeship.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Your typical working week will involve;

  • Supporting students with individual needs in their mainstream lessons.
  • With an assigned small group of key students;
    • Check in with them during morning registration
    • Conduct “walk and talks”
    • Understand their emotional needs
    • Implement appropriate reasonable adjustments to enable them to access their learning

As part of your apprenticeship, you will also have dedicated off the job time to focus on your studies and receive tailored mentoring from experienced practitioners within the school, helping you to develop as a professionally.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan

You will attend campus every 6-weeks for an activity day with other TA Apprentices, you will also be visited in the workplace regularly by your college Instructor-Mentor. They will complete observations, professional discussions and ensure you remain on track to achieve your apprenticeship.

Every Wednesday afternoon at 3pm, all staff participate in tailored professional learning sessions that foster collaboration and reflection. As an apprentice, you will have dedicated time with our lead practitioner, who will provide personalised training aligned with your course, ensuring you have every opportunity to succeed and excel in your apprenticeship.

  • GCSE English (Grade 4/C or above) essential
  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4/C or above) essential

Other requirements

The applicant should carefully consider transport due to school location and also the requirement to attend training days in Buxton. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check; the successful applicant will be supported to complete this.
