There is lots of support available to enable you to progress to further study, including university, employment, apprenticeships and volunteering and more at BLC.
We Offer:
- A range of sessions to help you develop your skills that employers are looking for, e.g. teamwork, problem solving and communication
- One to One guidance on a range of learning, work and training options
- Support with searching and applying for jobs and preparing for interviews
- Support with applying to university, including UCAS search and personal statements
- Advice and guidance on making decisions to enable you to succeed and make the right next steps

Careers and Employment Service
The Careers and Employment Service are here to support you. Our team of professionally qualified, impartial careers advisors are available to offer you personalised advice and guidance.
As a BLC student, you can access a range of careers support to enable you to progress to further into university, employment, apprenticeships, volunteering and more. You’ll benefit from:
- A range of sessions to help you develop skills that employers are looking for
- One to one guidance on a range of learning, work and training options
- Support with searching and applying for jobs and preparing for interviews
- Support with applying to university, including UCAS search and personal statements
- Advice and guidance on making career decisions
You can also access various online resources to help you prepare for your future career and improve your employability. These can be accessed using your student log-in. We cover four key areas:
Our service and offer
The College offers drop-in sessions and appointments with our impartial Careers Consultant to help you explore your options, choose a course or career that is right for you, choose and apply to university and apprenticeships.
Appointments and drop-in sessions are also available with an Engagement Officer to develop career skills such as CV writing, application and interview advice.
Appointments can be booked via telephone, email or through Buxton library or Leek hub.
Also available:
Buxton Campus: Drop-in every lunch time in D0/G01 (term time): Monday – Friday 12pm – 1:30pm
Leek Campus: Drop-in Monday 10am-3pm, Tuesday 10am – 12pm, Wednesday 10am – 3pm and Friday 10am-12pm CES room in the HUB.
