My name is Maia Beckett and I have spent the last two years studying Level 2 Beauty Therapy and Level 3 Spa Therapy at Buxton and Leek College. I have to say it was the best decision I have ever made.
During my time at college I have been able to gain skills that have enabled me to work professionally in a spa and salon environment. Along with the basic training provided within the courses, I was given the opportunity to do training with outside companies that allowed me to gain qualifications in spray tanning and makeup.
I truly believe that the tutors at Buxton & Leek College have the student’s best interest at heart. They genuinely care about providing a good education whilst doing everything in their power to ensure that the course is enjoyable and fun. They are friendly and approachable and have always made me feel at home in the College environment.
The College also has many other members of staff that are always there to help. The learner journey team and progress coaches are available to help with any problems you may be facing in or out of College. I feel this helps to keep a stable environment within the college that enables students to get the full benefits of their experience. The Union of Students are also a big part of College life, allowing students to have a voice and make changes within the College, with the help of staff.
Since completing my studies at Buxton & Leek College I have started my degree, staying on at the Buxton campus. The opportunity to work briefly with the degree students during my courses really inspired me to pursue a higher education. The support of my tutors and the careers team at the college enabled me to properly evaluate my decision before I moved on to university.
I am so glad I chose Buxton & Leek College as I feel it really was the right place for me to be at the time. I could not recommend it enough and I believe that any student that attends this college will thoroughly enjoy their time here.
