I personally enjoy college for the helpful tutors, who go above and beyond to help you with your work and make the lessons more interesting and entertaining. The student wellbeing and student support we receive is great as it really helps your health to have someone to trust and talk to, they also can get you professional help and they can help you if you need discuss course work problems.
The respect you receive from the tutors and classmates is so much better than a high school attitude, you are treated like an adult which gives you responsibilities and it’s a nice environment where noone’s better or worse, you’re all the same. Coming to a college leads to great opportunities, I’ve met and made so many friends from different courses, you go on trips to places you would never have gone to before. For example being a Media student we got to see countdown live giving us a personal experience of what an actual studio is like.
The college also helps you prepare for university, going on tours around universities, supplying careers advisers you can talk to if you’re unsure on where you want to go, and also helping you with personal statements and anything you will need. They don’t just help with university either, they help you with apprenticeships, work experience, and even helping you get a job l helping you to sort your CV.
There are a lot of events that are put on at college which are fun and interesting, like they’ll do a lot of food events where you can get a chance to taste foods from different countries. You can go to the Boiler House to chill where they sometimes do events as well, or the chaplaincy where they do a coffee club type of place where people interact.
All together I really like our college for all the experiences you’re going to get. I think everyone should consider college as it really brings out personality, enthusiasm for a course and helps you get more confidence and feel more grown up. Especially the work experience your set up with, which helps prepare you for the job your considering and give you real job skills that you will need.
