Enrolment, Start Dates & Term Dates

Info for Students Enrolling - 2024/25

INFO FOR STUDENTS ENROLLING – 2024/25

Enrolment 2024 – Your Future Starts Here!

Enrolment onto our full-time study programmes that start in September, begins in August. If you have been offered a place with us to start in September, you will be sent an Enrolment Pack mid to end of July with an invitation to enrol onsite.

You will also be given information about:

  • How to apply for a bus pass.
  • How to apply for a bursary if you are eligible.

 

Onsite Enrolment Dates/Times (Buxton & Leek Campus)

  • Thursday 22nd August 2024 – 9am to 7pm
  • Friday 23rd August 2024 – 10am to 4pm
  • Tuesday 27th August 2024 – 9am to 4pm
  • Wednesday 28th August 2024 – 9am to 4pm

Onsite Enrolment Date/Times (Derby County Community Trust)

  • TBC – Derby County Community Trust (DCCT) new and continuing students – Kedleston Road, Derby only.

If you are unable to attend any of the above dates to enrol, please contact us on 0800 074 0099 to make an appointment.

You must bring with you…

  • One form of ID (accepted ID includes Passport, Driving Licence, NI Card, Debit/Credit Card).
  • Exam results/certificates.
  • Completed Permission and Contact Form (to be completed by parent/guardian if you are aged under 18 years old or yourself if 18 or over).
  • If you are aged 19+, a wage slip or proof of any benefits you may be in receipt of.
  • If you are born outside of the UK will need to bring your Residency Documents

Please note without this information you will not be able to Enrol.

You will also be given information at onsite enrolment about:

  • Your first day in college
  • What your first few weeks will involve
  • Additional learning support if required
  • Applying for a bus pass if required
  • Applying for a bursary if you are eligible

 

Automatically Re-Enrolled Students / Adult Part-Time Learners

We will email any students who are automatically re-enrolled and therefore do not need to come onto site to enrol. We will email adult part-time learners with a link to enrol online. Once your enrolment is complete you will receive a Learner Agreement to be signed via your unimail. You can collect your ID card and Bus Pass (if applicable) during your first week at college.

Please note if you receive an enrolment pack through the post this means that you are required to come onto site to enrol.

Access to Higher Education Students

If you have been offered a place on an Access to Higher Education programme, based at either our Buxton, Leek, or Derby campuses, you will receive information about enrolment directly from the Access Team.

If you have applied for a University Level programme (e.g. foundation degree) you will be contacted by the University of Derby about your enrolment, with information about how to enrol on your BLC programme.

We also have programmes that enrol throughout the year, which include apprenticeships and part-time programmes. You will be contacted ahead of the start dates of the programmes with more specific information about enrolment for these types of programmes.

Results Days

Level 3 results/ Certificate collection – 2024 Date TBC

Buxton: 8.30.am – 12.pm – Dome floor (behind the reception). Certificates will be posted out first class if not collected during these times.

Leek: 8.30.am – 12.pm – The Gallery. Certificates will be posted out first class if not collected during these times.

GCSE & Level 2 results/ Certificate collection – 2024 Date TBC

Start Dates Week Commencing 2nd September 2024

New, Progressing & Continuing Main Study Programme Students – Please check back to view your induction days for the Week Commencing 2nd September 2024.

On your first day when you arrive at college, please report to the Dome at Buxton Campus at 9:30am or The Gallery at Leek Campus at 9:00am.

If you are a new student, please don’t worry as there will be lots of BLC staff around to help to show you where to go.

Automatically Enrolled Returning Students – We will email you with your start back date and time, which will be week commencing 9th September 2024. Please remember to check your unimail.

Part Time Learners – We will communicate your start date and times to you, nearer the time. Please report to main reception when you arrive on your first day.

Apprentices – Please check with your instructor-mentor what days you are in college over summer and half-term breaks. Please also note that the college is closed to all students over the Christmas break, Apprentices should talk to their employer about arrangements for any days they would ordinarily be in college during this time.
