The award-winning Buxton & Leek College is now offering the Multiply course, a new government-funded programme which aims to help adults improve their essential numeracy skills.
Lyndsey Mollison, Multiply Lead and Maths Lecturer at BLC says, “Maths is everywhere and Multiply is for everyone – whatever your goal – let us kick start your maths skills in a friendly learning environment. Improving your maths skills can lead to higher wages or further study, they can also help in everyday life, such as supporting children with their homework or brushing up on your personal finance and budgeting skills.
“We have courses for beginners to more advanced programmes, face-to-face and online, learning at a pace to suit you. Get involved and boost your maths skills with BLC.”
There are currently two of Multiply’s bitesize courses available at the College: Money Matters which focuses on personal finances and budgeting, and Figure It Out, “the helping children with homework programme”.
Multiply students can also benefit from a free Microsoft 365 package, free access to maths resources, and student discounts on high street brands. After completing courses with Multiply there are opportunities to progress onto formal qualifications such as Functional Skills or GCSE – both of which are offered at Buxton & Leek College, free of charge.
Accessible to anyone Staffordshire-based and aged 19+, these courses are fully funded and perfect for adults looking to build their confidence with numbers or refresh their numeracy skills whilst gaining a qualification.
