Counselling 504

THIS EVENT HAS NOW PASSED.

PROFESSIONAL counsellors are being offered a chance to further their development through a series of one-day workshops on offer from Buxton & Leek College in 2017.

Starting in January, the Saturday sessions will be delivered at the College’s Buxton Campus and will include Working with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Creative Supervision, Creativity and Dreams, Psychology with a Soul, Psychosynthesis and Trauma. The sessions will run once a month until June and participants, who need to be practising counsellors or psychotherapists can choose from any of the workshops.

A series of Hypnotherapy courses will also run at both the Buxton and Leek Campuses.

Past student Sue Leighton, 45, from Chesterfield gained her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling through Buxton & Leek College to give her more specialised skills to use in her job as a Family Support Worker.

She said: “I felt that my background helped with aspects of the course and prepared me for the some of the issues faced in the counselling room. The course also enriched my work and the skills are interlinked.

“The quality of teaching offered at Buxton and Leek is of the highest standard. The course was academic in nature but also contained experiential workshops that helped to ground the learning and course content. I found the tutors both supportive and friendly and felt that my learning was important to them. The workload was intense at times due to juggling work life, study and family life and took a fair amount of discipline to ensure I kept up with the work. My colleagues on the course were also supportive and we all offered each other encouragement.

“The course leaves you with a desire to continue on the learning journey as the content is fascinating.”
