This year’s prestigious Staffordshire Contemporary Artist and Designer Fair will be held at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December. Now in its eighth year, 2019’s array of artwork from professional artists/designer makers and Degree students from the Leek School of Art, part of Buxton & Leek College, promises to be a feast for the eyes. The weekend event is free to enter from 10am-4pm, so drop in to browse a beautiful collection of original paintings, prints, ceramics, jewellery and textiles etc.
The artists and designers have all been specially selected for the quality of their fantastic work with ceramics, textiles, jewellery, photography, print, illustration, painting, Wood, Contemporary craft etc. Something for everyone’s tastes and a great place for unique Christmas gift or treat for yourself.
Featured students from Buxton & Leek College are also supporting the local charity Rethink, based in John Hall Garden and will host a raffle during the event, proceeds of which will be donated to the charity. College student Vicky said “The restful sanctuary of the Garden and work of its volunteers makes for a caring environment whilst maintaining awareness of people’s mental health issues. The act of cultivating nature and art are a perfect partnership- they can provide respite for their senses through their own creativity”.
You’ll find a welcoming cafe in the Arts Centre, to enjoy a coffee and slice of cake – maybe while you take time to make a decision on that elusive Christmas gift, or admire a purchase?
