Engineering Technician Apprentice
We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to undertake a 4 years advanced apprenticeship in the area of engineering laboratory technician.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Perform activities within key operating targets
- Carry out any reasonable request from any member of the Management team within the general scope and purpose of the job.
- Construct and record tests and experiments in a pre-planned, thorough manner.
- Construct & record measurements in a pre-planned, thorough manner.
- Construct test & measurement set-ups with safety and effectiveness as prime objectives.
- Set-ups to be in line with safety guidelines.
- Set-ups to be both electrically and mechanically safe.
- Produce complete reports which communicate, effectively, precisely and concisely using Microsoft Excel & Word. The reports to include the objectives, procedures, equipment, results, discussion and conclusion.
- Provide technical support and advice to other departments and external customers.
- Work to agreed timescales.
- Work within the relevant Engineering Procedures.
- Provide production support for new and existing products as and when requested to do so.
- Work to agreed test schedules and official safety standards (BEAB, EN, KEMA, UL etc)
- Pay attention to the test purpose and objectives.
- Perform duties using only equipment that you are competent to use as per your training record.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be studying towards the Engineering Technician level 3 Apprenticeship.
You will attend college on a weekly basis spending time in the workshop, CAD/CAM Suites and in the classroom. Engineering is taught at the Leek Campus, college transport is available.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Additional training to higher education, HND (Higher National Diploma) or Degree level, depending on the calibre and performance of the individual.
