The Talentum Learning Trust is looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed Apprentice Teaching Assistants to work alongside teaching staff in the classroom. Apprentices will be based at either Churnet View Middle School or Leek High School.

Monday – Friday, term time only. Start time to be agreed between 8.00am and 8.45am and finish time between 4.00pm and 4.45pm. Your working hours will include off-the-job training and college attendance.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Working as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant, you will
- provide support to teachers in preparing for
lessons - help to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all pupils
- you will work together with the class teacher to support pupils with classroom activities during lesson
- help to manage behaviour
- you will support all areas of the curriculum including Maths, English & ICT
- assist with delivering interventions to individuals or small groups of pupils
- accompanying teaching staff and pupils on trips and out-of-school activities
You will also act as a role model for pupils and be a positive influence on their behaviour and performance at school. So, it’s important that you demonstrate maturity and excellence in all you do.
It will also be important to promote the ethos of the school at every opportunity.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship level 3 Apprenticeship
You will attend college every six weeks for a group session with your assessor mentor, you will have assessments in the workplace and complete off-the-job training for a minimum of 20% of your working time.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
There is potential for permanent employment with Churnet View, Leek High or the wider Talentum Trust on the successful completion of your apprenticeship.

Things to consider
Public transport is limited in the area so you should consider how you will travel to work each day, both schools are within walking distance of Leek Town centre and the bus station. Following a successful college interview, you will need to complete a Talentum Learning Trust application form also, further guidance will be provided to you at your college interview. You will need to complete a DBS check in order to commence your apprenticeship, you will be supported to complete this.

The Talentum Learning Trust is based in Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands and was formed in April 2016 upon the conversion to academy status of Churnet View Middle School, Leek High School and Westwood College to form the Multi-Academy Trust.
